Cover Option...

One of the final touches I need for my novella is the cover page. I found Artistscope, a website where you can design your own cover page for ebooks. I have two cover ideas that I can't choose from so I thought I would post them here and give you the opportunity to tell me which one you prefer.

Cover 1:

I like this one because it represents a break up, and the tear in down the middle gives it the effect of paper and represents the letters written. The boy and girl are shown as black silouhettes which suits the characters as their names are never mentioned in the book. It is simple and gives the reader some sort of sense that the story is about heartache, and love lost.

Cover 2:

I like this one because because it shows to people holding hands but they are both facing opposite directions. It represents letting go and heading different ways, a break up, not knowing if they are going backwards or forwards, and their faces are in shadows, which like Cover 1 suits the characters in the books as their names are never mentioned. Though there is nothing representing letters. This cover is not as simple but it gives the reader a sense that the story might be about strength, new beginings and a possibility of endings.

I know which one I really like but I would really like to see what you as the reader/consumer prefer or catches your attention more. Please leave a comment telling me the cover of your choice and help me pick the right cover. I can't wait to see what everyone chooses.

  1. I like the first one the best because of the same reasons you stated.

  2. If your novella was going to be an in-print book, I think the second cover is good. At first the people look like they are facing the same direction but you see their real statures whan you look closly. However, if it is an ebook, I think the first one is definately the way to go because when you're browsing Amazon or something, your book cover needs to be eyecatching at a one-inch height. The first one would captures your attention faster/more than the second one in that case.
